Tech Talk: AI-Powered Low-Code with Oracle APEX: Beyond Code Generation

Abstract: AI is reshaping how we build applications, and when combined with low-code platforms, it unlocks new levels of speed, intelligence, and usability. This session explores how Generative Development using a Model-Driven Execution Engine offers a smarter alternative to AI-driven code generation. Instead of producing large volumes of code that require constant review and maintenance, AI generates high-level models that help drive execution, enabling cleaner architecture, faster iteration, and reduced technical debt.
The benefits extend beyond developers. Modern low-code tools now empower end users to ask questions of their data using natural language. Behind the scenes, technologies like Vector Search, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI Function Calling interpret intent and deliver real-time, relevant insights. Join us to see how this combination of AI and Low-Code redefines both how we develop software and how users interact with it.

Marc Sewtz (Oracle)

Marc Sewtz, Senior Director of Software Development, Oracle
Marc Sewtz leads the global development team for Oracle APEX. APEX is Oracle’s low-code platform for building secure, scalable enterprise applications across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Marc joined Oracle in 1998, starting in Consulting with projects across Europe and the U.S., and became part of the APEX development team in 2002. Since then, he has played a key role in shaping the platform’s evolution and success. He holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Applied Sciences in Wedel, Germany, and brings deep expertise in enterprise software development and product strategy.
